If your asylum request is approved, you will have the right to housing, healthcare, education, and access to the labour market.
Residence permit
- You will receive a temporary residence permit, usually valid for five years.
- You can apply for a refugee or aliens passport.
- After living in the Netherlands for more than five years with a residence permit, and if you have a non-temporary residence permit, you can apply for Dutch citizenship.
Family reunification
- You have the right to bring your family to the Netherlands.
- You must request family reunification within three months after your asylum application is approved.
Building a life in the Netherlands
- You have the right to a place to live. The COA will connect you with a municipality that will offer you a home.
- You must take part in a civic integration course. In this course, you will learn the Dutch language and about Dutch society.
- You are allowed to work for pay.
- You have the right to education.
